Toys “R” Us is celebrating the debut of the latest Skylanders game, Skylanders Trap Team, with special events, an early opening, exclusive figures, and more.
On Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5, the Toys “R” Us flagship store in New York City will host unique in-store Skylanders-themed experiences. Customers who visit Toys “R” Us Times Square from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on either day can be among the first to play the new game at dedicated kiosks throughout the store.
They can also receive complimentary giveaways while supplies last, as well as have the opportunity to be digitally teleported into a Skylanders Trap Team “Most Wanted” photo alongside some of the game’s villains, including Kaos and Chompy Mage.
When Skylanders Trap Team releases on October 5, all Toys “R” Us stores nationwide will open one hour earlier at 8 a.m., and select stores will open at midnight. Meanwhile, the Skylanders villain Kaos will be taking over the Toys “R” Us Twitter channel (@Toysrus) on Saturday, October 4, from 11 to 11:50 p.m. to interact with fans and build anticipation for the midnight release.
In addition, customers who have the Skylanders Trap Team Starter Pack in hand—and who participated in the Toys “R” Us exclusive Skylanders Trap Team Legendary Treasure Pre-Order Program—will receive a complimentary Skylanders toy or accessory. They can also enter to win one of the Ultimate Legendary prizes, including a $1,000 Toys “R” Us shopping spree, a life-sized Mega Bloks Skylander, or the ultimate Skylanders bedroom makeover. Rewards “R” Us loyalty members can also enjoy special deals on Skylanders software, figures, and accessories when they shop from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., and at select stores from 12:01 a.m. to 1 a.m., on Sunday, October 5.
Finally, for the fourth consecutive year, Toys “R” Us will offer an exclusive, limited edition Legendary Series of Skylanders toys, including alternative versions of new Trap Team characters and packs. They include Legendary Jawbreaker, Legendary DéjàVu, and Legendary Nightmare Express Adventure Pack, all of which will feature enhanced in-game powers.
Skylanders Trap Team will be available on Nintendo Wii, Wii U, and 3DS; Xbox 360 and Xbox One; PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4; and a variety of tablets.
