Universal merged Brand Development and Parks & Resorts just last year to form Universal Products & Experiences. This relatively new division is now getting a new position: Executive Vice President, Global Commercial Officer, Consumer Products. The newly created position will be filled by Rafael “Rafa” Macias, reporting to Vince Klaseus, President of Universal Products & Experiences.
“Rafa’s deep industry and competitive experience make him well-positioned to drive our global commercial consumer products strategies and retail expansion,” Klaseus says. “He joins us following record growth in our business, and we are primed to continue to deliver elevated products as well as increase our marketing and retail impact as we look to deepen our connection to fans and consumers both inside and outside our theme parks worldwide.”
Macias has relevant experience within the industry, with previous work with the Walt Disney Co. He was most recently the Senior Vice President, Third Party Retail for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products.
Universal Products & Experiences continues its expansion and development as a new division with this new hire. The division will continue its focus on bringing Universal brands to new products, retail opportunities, and digital offerings. Macias, in his position, will focus on global commercial planning, with the development and marketing of the company’s products.
