Wild Republic is expanding on its “Promise to Protect the Planet.”

The company launched Ecokins, a new line of sustainable plush animals made using 100% recycled materials. As part of its commitment to be more environmentally conscious, this first corporate responsibility initiative is in partnership with SSA, the largest zoo, aquarium, and cultural attractions retailer and culinary services operator in the U.S. SSA will exclusively introduce the plush to more than 30 locations, including the Denver Zoo, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cincinnati Zoo, and the Botanical Garden, in November. A rollout to other retailers is planned for next year.

Ecokins uses nothing but recycled and eco-conscious materials in its overall development — from the biodegradable polybag packing down to the soy ink printed hangtag. The new line will launch with an assortment of 14 animals in two sizes – 12 and 18 inch – including a black bear, a polar bear, a dolphin, an African elephant, a hippo, a koala, a snow leopard, a panda, a penguin, a raccoon, a red panda, a sea turtle, a wolf, and a tiger.

“When developing Ecokins, it was equally important for us to develop the highest-quality plush that our consumers have come to expect from a Wild Republic product,” says Vishnu Chandran, president of Wild Republic. “The materials we use in the development of this line is sourced from a high-pile, outer fabric made completely from recycled materials resulting in the softest, most cuddly collection of eco-friendly plush like none-other.”

Wild Republic and SSA first partnered in 2017 with the Quest toy line, which eliminated the use of single-use plastic packaging.
