Maestro Media is celebrating a classic film with a new board game based on Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.
In 2001: A Space Odyssey | The Board Game, players fight to survive as HAL tries to sabotage Discovery One’s mission. One player controls HAL while the rest of the players work together to outsmart the AI. Each crewmember has a special ability that they can use in the fight against HAL, but the AI plays dirty. HAL can take multiple turns, wreak havoc, and sabotage ship systems.

“We wanted to capture the heart-pounding tension of 2001: A Space Odyssey in a way that brings the movie’s most iconic moments to life,” says Javon Frazier, CEO of Maestro Media. “This ‘one vs. many’ format delivers an intense, immersive experience, and with strategic gameplay and unpredictable twists, it’s perfect for fans of the film or those seeking a challenging game.”
The game ends when HAL destroys three systems or if Life Support goes down, but the crew wins if they can complete three logic sequences in the HAL core. The game is designed for 3-5 players, perfect for an intimate game night or a bigger party.
2001: A Space Odyssey | The Board Game will be available at maestromedia.com starting June 20.
