Bandai Namco is no stranger to Tamagotchi licensing deals, with recent releases of the virtual pet featuring Jurassic Park dinosaurs, Grogu from Star Wars, and the toy characters from Toy Story. This trend continues as Bandai has officially revealed the upcoming Harry Potter Tamagotchi Nanos, which will include magical creatures from the brand’s universe.
“Harry Potter fans have proven they are endlessly devoted to immersing themselves in the magical world the books and films have created,” says Tanya Sexton, Bandai Namco Toys & Collectibles America Inc. Brand Director, Toys. “We’re excited to be able to offer a new way to interact with the magical beasts from the beloved series.”

The new Harry Potter Tamagotchi Nanos come in two case styles — Hogwarts Castle in blue and Magical Creatures in red. Kids will need to feed, pet, and play with their magical creatures to avoid them running away. The Tamagotchis feature four different mini-games: “Catch Gold,” “Deliver of Letter,” “Fly Hippogriff,” and “Picking a Lock.” How kids interact with their Tamagotchi will determine which of the 11 magical creatures decides to appear.
The new Tamagotchis are available for preorder now with expectations to hit shelves July 18. Tamagotchis appeal to new kid fans as well as nostalgic adults who remember the toys from when they first released in the late ‘90s.
