    Four months before Spielwarenmesse eG, 22 exhibitors will present their latest product lines and supporting marketing campaigns for next year at ToyPreview from Oct. 6 to 7. The companies will meet with central buyers, representatives, licensors, and members of the media in Hall 12.2 and its adjoining foyer at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center.

    ThreeSixty Group Inc. has acquired FAO Schwarz from Toys “R” Us Inc. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The new ThreeSixty-designed FAO Schwarz toy collection will be inspired by the products and in-store experience at the former FAO Schwarz flagship store in New York City. Intended to evoke the creativity of childhood, the new FAO Schwarz collection and in-store experience will be available at select retailers until next fall. Until then, FAO Schwarz merchandise will be available online and at Toys “R” Us stores across the country.

    ZAG America LLC launched a 54-episode Miraculous Ladybug YouTube Channel and webisode series. The channel and all of its exclusive content centers around its animated series, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, which currently airs worldwide in more than 80 countries on Disney Channel and in the U.S. on Nickelodeon.

    Spielwarenmesse will offer free webinars from Oct. 19 to Dec. 14 to provide exhibitors tips to have a successful show. Daniel Gundelach, trade fair marketing director and consultant, and Marlene Hosch of Speilwarenmesse eG will lead the webinars. In response to high demand over recent years, the seminar programs have been extended.

    The fourth Kids India 2016 convention was held from September 15 to 17. There were more than 5,000 trade visitors, in addition to 150 national and international companies representing 350 brands. The B2B fair took place at the Bombay Convention & Exhibition Center.

    Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment (WIT) will execute its first WIT panel at this year’s New York Comic Con (NYCC). The panel, “Strong is Beautiful—Empowering Girls through Entertainment” will take place on Oct. 9 at 12:15 in room 1A02 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

    Southard Communications Inc. and Freeman Public Relations Inc. have announced plans to merge to form Southard|Freeman Communications Inc. The new company expects to begin operations at the beginning of next year with a staff of 25. The company will maintain Southard’s NYC headquarters and offices in Chicago and Los Angeles, as well as Freeman’s New Jersey office.

    More kids this year will be celebrating Halloween dressed as their favorite superheroes, as princess costumes fall to the No. 2 spot after 11 years, according to the National Retail Federation’s 2016 Halloween Consumer Top Costumes Survey from Prosper Insights & Analytics. Spending on Halloween costumes is expected to reach $3.1 billion, with 67 percent of Halloween celebrants to purchase costumes this year.

    StartApp has entered a strategic partnership with Mattel to develop digital experiences for Mattel’s brands, including Barbie and Hot Wheels. Under the multi-year agreement, StartApp will become Mattels’ premier license to create digital stickers, emojis, wallpapers, GIFs, mobile app themes, avatars, memes, and related apps for a number of Mattel’s global consumer brands.

    Disguise Inc., the Halloween costume division of Jakks Pacific Inc., will create kids’ Halloween costumes and everyday dress-up based on Lego Batman and Lego Batgirl characters from the feature film The Lego Batman Movie, opening Feb. 10.

    IAmElemental will offer giveaways, limited edition merchandise, raffles, and photo opportunities at its New York Comic Con Booth 1764 from Oct. 6 to 9. Booth visitors will have the opportunity to pose with superhero Exploration’s wings, which is a human-scale animatronic wing set with a nine-foot wingspan. Academy Award-winning Jim Henson’s Creature Shop fabricated the wings exclusively for IAmElemental. Fans who take a photo with Exploration’s Wings will receive an exclusive IAmElemental cloth Superhero mask or chose a button pin in one of two colors.

    Wicked Cool Toys is relaunching Teddy Ruxpin next fall, 25 years since the bear originally made its debut. Released in 1985 as an animatronic storytelling bear, Teddy Ruxpin told stories through a rear-loading cassette based system that was synced to the bear’s speech pattern. There were 60 original stories with 10 to 15 new stories released each year over a 5-year period, and the bear featured a motorized mouth and eyes.
