Brown Toy Box is partnering with educational nonprofit DonorsChoose to expand in-school educational offerings and inspire kids to be successful in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) careers. This partnership follows Brown Toy Box’s attendance at the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) conference.
“What we confirmed last week at the ESEA Network conference in New Orleans is that there is an incredible hunger from schools and educators for culturally affirming products and content for their scholars,” says Terri-Nichelle Bradley, creator of Brown Toy Box. “We are on a mission to disrupt generational poverty with Brown Toy Box STEAM Kits and inspire a new generation of underserved kids to unlock their potential.”
STEAM focused toys and early exposure to diverse content showcasing Brown and Black characters can expose kids to positive representation and create an interest in STEAM fields that can cultivate curiosity and demonstrate Black excellence.
The new product line includes interactive STEAM kits, memory games, puzzles, activity books, story dice, window clings, journals, and more. Each STEAM kit focuses on a particular theme such as astronomy, robotics, art, coding, chemistry, and marine biology. The kit includes a DIY cut-out playable character figure complete with its own story board background, games, puzzles, activity book, and coloring pages.
Through the partnership, Brown Toy Box’s goal is to reach 100,000 students nationwide.
