Cepia announces the relaunch of ZhuZhu Pets. The robotic hamsters will return to the retail shelves with original features, new playsets, and added ways to play.

In 2010, ZhuZhu Pets was a global phenomenon, earning numerous accolades, including Toy of the Year honors and a spot on Time Magazine’s Top 100 Toys of All Time list. Cepia, the company behind the beloved electronic pets, is reintroducing ZhuZhu Pets to nostalgic parents and newer generations.

With the relaunch, Cepia will produce ZhuZhu Pets with the same features consumers remember, like randomized movement patterns, quirky personalities, and more than 40 unique sounds per character. The original line of ZhuZhu Pets will also relaunch with the collection, including Mr. Squiggles, Pipsqueak, NumNums, Jilly, Chunk, and more.

Alongside the original pets, consumers can grow their collections with expanded ZhuZhu City playsets, which feature shops, parks, and more. Additionally, ZhuZhu pets are compatible with ZhuZhu Aquarium, allowing audiences to mix and match their habitats.

“As a kid, I always wanted a hamster, but my mom said no. That inspired me to create ZhuZhu Pets — an interactive, lovable pet that doesn’t need a cage or cleanup. The response to ZhuZhu Pets over the years has been incredible, and we can’t wait for kids to rediscover the joy of these adorable little adventurers,” says James Russell Hornsby, founder and CEO of Cepia.

“When ZhuZhu Pets first launched, social media was just beginning — we were the first toy brand to use Twitter to engage moms and create a movement,” says Laura Frerichs, head of marketing at Cepia. “Now, the hamsters are ready to take over TikTok and the rest.”
