CEC Entertainment’s Chuck E. Cheese is partnering with the American Society for Deaf Children (ASDC) to create more inclusive and accommodating spaces across its numerous locations. This program honors National ASL Day today.
Chuck E. Cheese is launching several initiatives throughout the year thanks to the new partnership. The company will organize both national and local fundraising events with 20% of proceeds going to ASDC’s mission of empowering deaf and hard-of-hearing children.
In addition, all Chuck E. Cheese locations will introduce training programs designed to educate employees in ASL. The programs will include foundational information such as basic greetings in ASL. Chuck E. Cheese’s Accessibility Subcommittee plans to focus on hard-of-hearing inclusivity with cast members as well, developing appropriate training materials as well as educational content.
The company will produce and release a new series of ASL sing-along videos on its in-store media platforms and YouTube channels.
The ASDC is a nonprofit organization offering support and information to families raising deaf or hard-of-hearing children. It was founded in 1967 and is the oldest national organization headed by parents of deaf children.
