In partnership with Wizards of the Coast and WizKids, The Strong National Museum of Play will unveil its latest exhibit honoring the popular role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons

The exhibit, Dungeons & Dragons: 50 Years of Storytelling, celebrates the community and camaraderie created by the fantasy game. It features rare artifacts, prototypes, original artwork, interactive elements, and behind-the-scenes insights.

Visitors can immerse in the role-playing experience with interactive features that explore the game’s rich history. Guests can create their own characters, discover their character class through quizzes, and test their skills as a Dungeon Master in a five-minute campaign.

The Story National Museum of Play will also display rare and historically significant artifacts from Dungeons & Dragons history. The artifacts include the first-edition Dungeons & Dragons set, an inaugural issue of Dragon magazine sent to co-creator Gary Gygax, and original artwork that has defined the game’s visual identity over the decades.

“This exhibit offers an exciting opportunity to explore the game’s rich history, showcasing the creativity and innovation that Dungeons & Dragons has inspired over the past 50 years. From the first-edition game and original artwork to iconic character designs and dungeon maps, visitors will see first-hand the game’s evolution and its lasting impact on popular culture,” says Jon-Paul Dyson, PhD, Senior Vice President for Exhibits and Interpretive Resources at The Strong National Museum of Play.

Visitors can experience Dungeons & Dragons: 50 Years of Storytelling at The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York, from Sept. 21-Jan. 2025. For more information, visit The Strong’s website.
