You’ve heard of exploding kittens, but what of a pigeon?
Exploding Kittens has announced a slate of summer games. Destined for the toy aisle in July, the acclaimed company is launching five new tabletop board games, one of which is an adaption of its namesake.
Exploding Kittens: The Board Game celebrates the company and the game’s 10th anniversary. Exploding Kittens has sold more than 60 million games; it has its own Netflix series with an exclusive mobile game and a mobile app on iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch.
“This is easily one of my favorite games we’ve ever made because it takes us back to where we started but with an entirely new way to play,” says Elan Lee, Co-Creator and CEO of Exploding Kittens.
The board game invites competitive and strategic play for kids ages 7 and up. Players can use every space on the board to flip from “calm” to “chaos mode,” set traps, sabotage other players, and form alliances. The game continues the original game’s spirit of play and irreverent humor.
Giants Moving Tiny Furniture, exclusive to Target, invites players to move miniature furniture using only their pinkies. Exploding Pigeon expands on the concept of hot potato and adds charades; kids ages 7 and up must act out a secret phrase and pass the pigeon before it unleashes a chaotic scream. Both games can be played in 10 minutes.
Monster Match adds dice to the traditional matching game. Kids ages 4 and up must find the card corresponding to the rolled dice. The game can be played in 15 minutes and has two modes, letting preschoolers grow with it as they develop.
A party game for kids ages 10 and up, What Were You Thinking? invites players to test how well they know their friends and family. It can also be played in 15 minutes. The game will be available at Walmart and Amazon.
Exploding Kittens: The Board Game, Giants Moving Tiny Furniture, Exploding Pigeon, and Monster Match will be on store shelves July 21. What Were You Thinking? arrives July 30.
“Looking back at the last decade, it’s wild to see how we’ve grown from Kickstarter to a library of over 60 games,” says Lee. “This upcoming slate of games are some of my favorites yet, including our first-ever board game. It’s everything fans love about our original card game, but now the board itself physically transforms as you play.”
