Hasbro has released Monopoly: Barbie Edition on the heels of Mattel’s theatrical release of Barbie: The Movie. Monopoly: Barbie Edition features Mattel’s iconic doll and her accessories throughout the game’s tokens, board, and gameplay.
Players can choose from six Barbie-inspired tokens to play: a dog, a shoe, a sportscar, a speedboat, a roller skate, or Barbie herself. Instead of railroads, players can land on one of four Dream vehicles: Dream Boat, Dream Camper, Dream Convertible, and Dream Plane. Fans will also see Barbie-inspired locations available to purchase, like Malibu Ave., Pink Canyon Blvd., and Roberts Road.
This edition introduces a new gameplay mechanic with Be Anything cards. Players will choose one of six Barbie career cards that give them an advantage over opponents. Players can utilize their Be Anything skill when they roll a “B” with the Barbie die.
Monopoly: Barbie Edition is available for preorder online at Amazon and Entertainment Earth for $24.99. The game will also be available at major retailers starting on Oct. 1.
Mattel and Hasbro entered into multiyear licensing agreements earlier this year to collaborate on upcoming projects. Mattel will introduce Transformers-branded UNO games later this year as well as a line of Transformers-branded Hot Wheels vehicles in 2024.
