Hootenanny Games is adding to its lineup of family-friendly card games with the release of Early Bird. Early Bird is an action-packed card game filled with challenges that keep the energy high; it mixes the classic elements of the game Speed with some physical twists.
“Early Bird captures everything we love about game design — movement, interaction, and moments that make people laugh out loud,” says Whitney Kimerling, Chief Creative Officer of Hootenanny Games. “We wanted to create something that gets players out of their seats and into the action, and this game does exactly that.”
In Early Bird, 2-6 players ages 7 and up compete to empty their hands of bird food cards, all while participating in interactive challenges. When a player receives the Worm challenge card, the player throws the included foam worm in the air, and everyone must attempt to retrieve it. The player with the best worm impression receives bonus points and takes the first turn in the next round. This game is fast-paced and can be played in 15 minutes or less. The player with the most challenge card victories wins at the end of five rounds.
Players can encounter other challenge cards, such as the Squirrel Twirl and the Birdhouse. With the Squirrel Twirl card, players spin in circles and attempt to slap the center card pile, and with the Birdhouse card, players try to build a birdhouse out of cards.
“Early Bird has that perfect mix of speed and silliness that keeps everyone engaged from start to finish,” says Alex Kimerling, President of Hootenanny Games. “It’s the kind of game where players are laughing, moving, and asking to play again before the game is even over.”
Early Bird is available now on playhootenanny.com and Amazon.
