Mattel and Netflix released the official trailer and theme song for the upcoming animated series, Hot Wheels Let’s Race.
The trailer features the newest generation of Hot Wheels racers, and offers a sneak peek at some of the featured vehicles including the GT Scorcher, the Baja Jump Truck, and the Velociracer.
Patrick Stump, award-winning musician and lead vocalist for the Grammy-nominated rock band Fall Out Boy, composed, recorded, and produced the show’s theme song. Stump has previously worked on film and TV music including Big Hero 6, LEGO Batman, Pacific Rim: Uprising, the Emmy Award-winning Robot Chicken Christmas Special, and Disney’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends. He also leads the composition of the score, underscore, and music cues for all episodes.
“I spent a lot of my childhood in my grandpa’s garage handing him tools while he worked on cars and I daydreamed about music,” says Stump. “But Hot Wheels was my way of connecting to his love of cars. That’s why I was so excited to get the opportunity to work on Hot Wheels Let’s Race with Mattel Television Studios.”
The series was developed for television by Rob David, Vice President, Content Creative at Mattel Television Studios (He-Man and Masters of the Universe: Revolution, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Melanie Shannon, Senior Manager, Creative Content at Mattel Television Studios (He-Man and the Masters of the Universe), and Jordan Gershowitz (Sharkdog). David, Christopher Keenan (Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go), and Fred Soulie (Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge) serve as Executive Producers, with Mike Roberts (Final Space) as Creative Producer, and Diane A. Crea (Barbie: Epic Road Trip) as Senior Producer. Animated services for Hot Wheels Let’s Race are provided by Sprite Animation Studios and OLM Digital.
“Between the show’s characters, propulsive cars, and pulse-pounding music, we want to make audiences feel like they’re literally gripping the wheel for an unforgettable ride with Hot Wheels Let’s Race,” David says.
Hot Wheels Let’s Race debuts March 4 on Netflix.
