The LEGO Group has created its own Lord of the Rings trilogy with its new set.
The Lord of the Rings: The Shire brings builders to Hobbiton while joining Rivendell and Barad-dûr. The Shire is a 2,017-piece diorama with nine minifigures. It offers fans the opportunity to enjoy Bilbo Baggins’s hobbit-hole, celebrate his eleventy-first birthday, recreate the iconic dragon firework scene, and more. The set includes Gandalf’s horse and cart, the Party Tree, and Bilbo’s book, which can be display open or closed.
The LEGO Group announced the launch with a short film starring Sean Astin, who portrayed Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. The film features animated minifigures and a tour of the new set. It was created in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products.
“Not all those who wander are lost… especially when traveling through the astonishing detail of the Shire made out of LEGO bricks! From the smallest hobbit-hole to the grandest fireworks, building this set brought back so many fond memories of Middle-earth,” Astin says. “Now fans can journey there themselves and build their own adventures.”
LEGO Insiders can pre-order the set beginning April 2; builders can join the queue April 5. Watch the film and learn more about the set online at lego.com/theshire.
