Licensing legends Greg Battersby and Danny Simon wrote a must-have guide for manufacturers and licensees. Licensee Survival Handbook breaks down everything licensees need to know.
Battersby and Simon are Licensing International Licensing Hall of Fame members; more than 20 industry veterans, including former Licensing International Chairperson Carole Francesca, Licensing International President Maura Regan, Francesca Ash of Total Licensing, Roger Berman of Zen Works, Steven Heller of The Brand Liaison, Charles Schnaid of Miller Kaplan, Marty Malysz of Dependable Solutions, Andrew Schenkel of Double Play Agency, Menal McGrath of Dan Dee, and Ray Uhlir of LMCA have contributed to the guide.
The book defines the world of licensing, outlines the industry today and its major players, and provides insight on selection, compensation, royalties, and agreements. It also examines product development, licensing management, marketing, promotions, accounting, and taxes.
Battersby is the managing member of The Battersby Law Group, an intellectual property law firm based in Connecticut. He has more than 50 years of experience in patents, trademarks, and licensing law. Battersby served as general counsel for Licensing International for almost 25 years and is the only practicing attorney inducted into the Licensing Hall of Fame. He has authored more than 60 books about licensing.
Simon is an industry veteran with more than 40 years of experience. He opened The Licensing Group in 1992 and is among the first to license adult, prime-time television entertainment, beginning with the soap opera Dallas. Simon developed successful licensing programs for The Fall Guy, Alf, Rambo, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Mortal Kombat, and more.
