Moonbug Entertainment is increasing its global audience and portfolio this year.
The global entertainment company known for hit shows such as CoComelon and Blippi acquired Little Angel, one of the fastest-growing kids’ channels on YouTube. This is Moonbug’s first acquisition since becoming a part of Candle Media last year.
“Its irreverent humor and relatable world make it a strong addition to our IP portfolio,” says Renè Rechtman, co-founder and CEO, Moonbug Entertainment. “There continues to be a tremendous demand for great value-based kids’ content that connects with a global audience, and this acquisition represents an important opportunity for us to build another global entertainment franchise.”
The franchise already receives 1.5 billion monthly views, but Moonbug plans to grow Little Angel and its audience. The company plans to invest in its content, expand its viewership and distribution to its global network, and create more opportunities for audience engagement.
“Little Angel is a perfect addition to Moonbug and this acquisition underscores our commitment to investing in the continued growth and success of the companies and brands within Candle,” say Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs, co-chairmen and co-CEOs, Candle Media.
Over the past few years, Moonbug Entertainment has grown through the acquisition of content while inking new partnership deals with toymakers and consumer products companies to build franchises from digital-first brands.
