Nex Playground has a vast catalogue of kid-friendly video games, but its latest launch is turning up the heat. As How to Train Your Dragon soars towards theaters, Nex is teaming up with Universal Products & Experiences for fiery fun inspired by the live-action reimagining.

In How to Train Your Dragon: Riders of the Skies, players can experience the high-flying action of the film from the comfort of their living room. Using unique motion-capture technology, this game challenges kids to get off the couch and use their bodies to fly, train, and defend the Isle of Berk from its foes. The game is available now on the Nex Playground console with Play Pass.

The adventure starts by selecting a dragon to ride, like Toothless, Deadly Nadder, or Gronckle, and soaring through six maps featuring the series’ most iconic locales. Kids can harness their skills in Training Mode by aiming at wooden targets or swooping for sheep around the island. When they’re ready, little dragon riders can take on Defend Berk challenges, an action-packed map full of enemy dragons to defeat. Fly solo as a single player or team up as a family to fire up the game night competition.

How to Train Your Dragon: Riders of the Skies showcases the unique way riders can get off the couch and move their body together in some fire-breathing fun,” says David Lee, Co-founder and CEO of Nex. “Soon, players can experience the How to Train Your Dragon film in theaters and afterwards come home and jump right back into the universe with Nex Playground. These types of moments are made possible by our continued collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences, who share our vision of family gaming.”

How to Train Your Dragon: Riders of the Skies is now available on Nex Playground with Play Pass. Families can check store availability and browse the console’s impressive library of video games on its website.
