Northville Plastics has acquired American Plastic Toys, a toy manufacturer that has been around for more than 60 years. This acquisition marks the fifth plastic company Northville has partnered with since entering the plastics space. The President of American Plastic Toys, John Gessert, will remain in his position.
American Plastic Toys manufactures an assortment of more than 125 branded and private-label toys, ranging from sand buckets and toboggans to full playsets. The company serves mass merchants such as Walmart, Target, Amazon, and more. All of the toys are manufactured in the U.S. with materials purchased domestically.
“We like the product, and we like the people. As another founder-run company, we share a lot of the same values, and our experience in plastics and injection molding positions us well to continue the storied tradition of American Plastic Toys.”
American Plastic Toys was founded in 1962 and has significantly expanded since. The company currently operates four facilities in Michigan and Mississippi.
“This new opportunity provides a way for us to collaborate and leverage collective expertise with several other plastic companies while working with experienced plastic professionals to revitalize American Plastic Toys,” says Gessert. He is looking forward to working with Carlson since they have known each other for years and expects to be great partners in keeping up the tradition of excellence.
