The expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) “Scarlet and Violet: Destined Rivals” will bring back the popular Trainer’s Pokémon cards, where characters from the series have their special partner Pokémon brought into the TCG as playable cards. For the first time for the expansion, the crime syndicate Team Rocket will join the roster, with 83 cards in the series coming from the villain team. Players can find and use cards that feature Sinnoh Champion Cynthia and her Garchomp, Ethan and Ho-Oh, or team up with Team Rocket and use cards like Mewtwo under Team Rocket Leader Giovanni’s control. The expansion will be available to purchase as booster packs or a special elite trainer box containing multiple booster packs at retailers nationwide on May 30.
Ahead of the expansion’s launch, a release tournament event will be held May 17 at participating retailers under the Play! Pokémon program. The expansion will also be released digitally on the Pokémon TCG Live app, where players can get in-game bonuses when logging in May 29.
