The LEGO Group and Asmodee have entered a multi-year partnership, resulting in the production of several LEGO board games. The first game, Monkey Palace, will be released in October.

Monkey Palace is a jungle-themed strategy game featuring LEGO inventions — it was announced earlier this year, and will be available to purchase following the debut at Essen Spiel on Oct. 3. In the game, players compete to re-build the Monkey Palace.

“We are thrilled to announce that our collaboration with Asmodee — it has been a truly inspiring journey,” Jaume Fabregat, Board Games Lead, LEGO Publishing, says. “By combining Asmodee’s extensive expertise in board games with the limitless potential of the LEGO system, we are unlocking exponential possibilities for innovation in play. This partnership paves the way for future collaborations that will redefine the LEGO building experience within the tabletop landscape, offering fans unique and distinctive play experiences.”

The companies have also created Dotted Games, a new studio that will remain dedicated to the collaboration. Dotted Games is based in Denmark and will help find new ways to play with LEGO bricks and develop the games within the partnership.

Dotted Games is currently developing Brick Like This!, a party game for 2-8 players and kids ages 7 and up.

“Embarking on this exciting journey with the LEGO Group is exciting, combining their timeless creativity with our passion and expertise for games,” Thomas Koegler, Asmodee Deputy COO, says. “Together, we aim to build unforgettable experiences that will unite families and friends around the world, one LEGO brick and one shuffle of the deck at a time.”

More information will be available as the partnership proceeds.
