The LEGO Group is charting a course for anime-zing adventure to the Grand Line.
In a collaboration with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, the LEGO Group is developing new building sets based on the hit manga-inspired Netflix series One Piece. As the first line of LEGO sets inspired by an anime, fans can pirate, pillage, and piece together the beloved series like never before. The collection is slated to launch later this year, coinciding with the series’ highly anticipated second season.
While it hasn’t unveiled specific building sets, the LEGO Group plans to make waves with its first venture into East Blue. The new collection promises to set sail with multiple sets of varying difficulty and brick counts, each recreating iconic scenes and characters from the live-action adaptation. From LEGO mini-figures of Luffy and his crew to tales from the Grand Line, these sets are the perfect way for pirates to treasure and display their favorite series.
It has been an honor to bring the magnificent world of One Piece to life both on and off the screen. We are excited to collaborate with LEGO, a brand synonymous with creativity and the joy of play, to mark a historic moment as we build out the treasured manga’s adventures in iconic LEGO form for the first time ever. Through every detail of the design process, we've worked to meticulously create a collection of playsets that will give fans new ways to live out their own epic voyages into the Grand Line one special brick at a time."
Lena Dixen, Senior Vice President for Core Businesses at the LEGO Group, expressed her joy in bringing the fan-favorite anime to life. She stated, “This is a truly special collaboration. For the first time, LEGO play and the exciting world of anime meet. Building the world of One Piece, as depicted in the Netflix live-action adaptation, in LEGO brick form has been such an exciting challenge, and I couldn’t be more excited for fans to experience the new adventures this One Piece collaboration will bring them for the first time.”
The LEGO Group has yet to announce when the sets will hit the deck, but they’re expected to hit stores ahead of One Piece Season 2 on Netflix later this year. Until then, updates and announcements about the collection will be available at Lego.com/One-piece.
