Could a one-string guitar replace the time-tested recorder as the learning instrument of choice?
Buffalo Games is teaming up with guitar maker and Dave Matthews collaborator Brian Calhoun to launch TinkerTar.
TinkerTar is made with kids in mind. The guitar toy features just a single string, keeping things simple for small hands that are starting out in music-making. The guitars come in a collection of fun and bright designs such as a guitar shaped like a pizza, a rainbow heart, a tiger, and more.
The TinkerTar’s fingerboard is color-coded to match the included songbook, so even kids that aren’t quite reading yet can start following along. The book comes with 15 songs kids can play, all focused on teaching them to play melodies with TinkerTar before they move on to tackling more complex multi-string chords. The guitar is designed for kids ages 3 and up, so it’s perfect for even the youngest music fan.
For $24.99, each set comes with a guitar, three extra strings, a pick, and a music booklet. The body of the guitar is made from sustainable, responsibly sourced wood, so it’s eco-friendly, too.
Calhoun joined Buffalo Games at last month’s ASTRA Marketplace & Academy in Columbus, Ohio to show off TinkerTar to independent toy store owners and other retail buyers.
Additionally, the TinkerTar lineup will have a big-box presence with Amazon, Target, and Walmart.
