It appears that Geoffrey is taking a break from his tour throughout the U.S. and jumping the pond.
Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us are returning to the UK with the launch of digital flagship e-commerce websites for both properties. Parent company of both brands WHP Global and Toys “R” Us ANZ Limited — the exclusive license partner for the brands in Australia and the UK — took note that the total addressable market for toys and games in the UK for 2021 was £3.7 billion, representing the largest toy market in Europe and the fourth largest globally.
In time for the holiday shopping season, Toys “R” Us UK’s digital commerce launches with a wide range of products from more than 300 brands and, ultimately, aims to further enhance the customer experience with engaging content, expert guides, and product differentiation.
This UK launch coincides with the successful rollout of Toys “R” Us locations inside of Macy’s stores across the U.S., marking a return of the brand that closed in 2018. Each department store will have a Toys “R” Us in-store shop ranging from 1,000 square feet to 10,000 square feet in flagship locations in cities like Atlanta, Chicago, Honolulu, and more.
“The momentum behind the Toys ‘R’ Us brand and its return to key markets, including the UK and the U.S., has been phenomenal,” says WHP Global and Toys “R” Us CEO and Chairman Yehuda Shmidman. “Since acquiring the brand in March of last year, we have grown its global footprint by 50% and we are still in early innings for what customers can expect from both Toys ‘R’ Us and Babies ‘R’ Us as we head into 2023.”
