WildBrain CPLG is celebrating the 27th anniversary of its Teletubbies brand, partnering with MetaPals to bring Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Po to the world of non-fungible tokens (NFT). Utilizing both AI and blockchain technology, Teletubbies characters will act as evolving digital companions, joining other intellectual properties (IP) entering the MetaPals Multiverse this year.
The new Teletubbies companions will work off of MetaPals’ existing browser extension game engine. The digital companions will have individual personality traits and accompany users as they browse the web, providing interaction and assistance. 5,000 unique companions will be available with the launch, featuring a combination of personality traits and accessories with varying rarities.
MetaPals is known for its NFT offerings, using a blockchain-integrated browser extension to bring purchased digital characters directly to the user’s browsing experience. The company is adding new brands to its character offerings beyond Teletubbies, such as Hello Kitty.
The new Teletubbies AI digital companions will launch on April 20, marking the brand’s expansion into new opportunities and partnerships. “As we celebrate 27 years of the wildly popular Teletubbies franchise, this latest collaboration encapsulates the essence of childhood nostalgia while embracing the limitless possibilities of the digital age,” says Ben Peace, Vice President, APAC at WildBrain CPLG.
