The expansive lineup was revealed at this year’s MagicCon: Atlanta, spanning multiple licensed collaborations and expansions into fan-favorite settings.

The first line to be shared, on store shelves before the end of this year, is the Magic: The Gathering — Final Fantasy collection. Featuring characters and elements from the series, new cards will be added to the expansion, as well as new Final Fantasy Scene Boxes and the Limit Break Commander Deck. The Scene Boxes have six new-to-Magic: The Gathering cards that recreate a scene based on one of the games, while the Limit Break Commander Decks come with a new promo card and a download code for Final Fantasy VII.

The next announcement introduced Magic: The Gathering Lorwyn Eclipsed. A long-awaited return to the land of light and shadow, first introduced 18 years ago, the expansion brings players back to a beloved setting. Players will soon revisit Lorwyn and its counterpart, Shadowmoor, in both Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons. Lorwyn: First Light is a playable digital campaign exclusively on D&D Beyond starting Nov. 18, while the card game expansion releases in January of next year.

Next April sees the release of the Secrets of Strixhaven expansion, where players revisit Arcavios and Strixhaven University. This time, players have the chance to explore the setting off-campus and discover what lies beyond the university walls. A companion young adult novel, Strixhaven: Omens of Chaos by Seanan McGuire, launches alongside the expansion and will cover a group of students making the journey to find out where they belong in the Multiverse.

Next summer sees the release of two licensed expansions: Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes and Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit. The Marvel Super Heroes set expands on the previous Marvel collaboration with Magic: The Gathering | Marvel’s Spider-Man, and will launch in June. Then, in August, players will have the opportunity to journey to Middle-earth and go with Bilbo, Gandalf, and other iconic characters on their adventure to the Lonely Mountain.

In October, players see the conclusion of the current Magic story arc with the Reality Fractured set. Following the events of Tarkir: Dragonstorm, players see familiar faces as they discover the ultimate fate of the Multiverse.

In November, Magic: The Gathering will join in on the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Star Trek with a new themed set based on the original television series and Star Trek: The Next Generation. The following trailer was used as the announcement for this set:

Next year also sees the introduction of new theme decks, which provide players with a ready-to-play deck along with strategy tips to help them learn the best ways to utilize the cards in each deck. The first ones, the Angel and the Pirate, will release alongside Lorwyn: First Light, with additional decks releasing alongside Secrets of Strixhaven and Reality Fractured.

Players also have a line of Draft Night products to look forward to. First launching alongside Lorwyn Eclipsed, players can grab a Draft Night product and have everything they need to run a Pick-Two Draft event for four players. The sets come with a special Collector booster card to give away at the end of the game, as well as tokens and basic land cards.
