Hasbro Named as a 2014 World’s Most Ethical Company

Hasbro logoHasbro Inc. has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute, an independent center of research promoting best practices in corporate ethics and governance, as a 2014 World’s Most Ethical Company.

Hasbro is one of eight consumer products companies honored this year. It marks the third time that Hasbro has been recognized with this award, which recognizes organizations that continuously raise the bar on ethical leadership and corporate behavior.

The Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient framework and methodology was determined, vetted, and refined by advice and insights from a network of thought leaders, as well as the World’s Most Ethical Company Methodology Advisory Panel. Scores were generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance program; reputation, leadership and innovation; governance; corporate citizenship and responsibility; and culture of ethics.

Hasbro Named Among Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies for Second Consecutive Year

Hasbro, Inc. has been recognized as one of The Ethisphere Institute’s World’s Most Ethical Companies (WME) for the second year in a row. Ethisphere received a record number of nominations for the 2013 WME list.

Hasbro’s commitment to responsible business practices can be seen through the company’s ongoing efforts in sustainable packaging innovation. Last year, Hasbro announced plans to reduce materials used in product packaging for many of its highly popular global brands and, beginning this year, Hasbro will phase out PVC in new toy and game product packaging. Over the next two years, retailers and consumers will begin to see an even broader range of packaging efficiencies put in place across Hasbro’s brand portfolio, including redesigned disposable boxes and blister packs that use less material.

Hasbro has been named one of the “2012 World’s Most Ethical Companies” (WME) by the Ethisphere Institute. The institute is a leading business ethics think-tank dedicated to the creation, advancement, and sharing of best practices in business ethics, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption, and sustainability. Approximately 5,000 companies were nominated, with 145 making the cut. Hasbro was the only branded play company to receive the honor. “A strong ethical foundation is a competitive advantage, and Hasbro recognizes the important role corporate responsibility can play in improving its bottom line,” said Alex Brigham, executive director of the Ethisphere Institute, in a press release.

To select companies for the list, the Ethisphere Institute ranks organizations by reviewing codes of ethics, litigation, and regulatory infraction histories; evaluating the investment in innovation and sustainable business practices; reviewing activities designed to improve corporate citizenship; and studying nominations from senior executives, industry peers, suppliers, and customers.
