Heading into the holiday season, the challenges of life during the COVID-19 era could prove to be a new obstacle for giving initiatives.
Today, the annual Toys for Tots campaign is officially underway as members of the U.S. Marine Corps., corporate partners, and more than 35,000 volunteers begin conducting a total of 810 local toy drives across all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
This past spring and summer, Toys for Tots collaborated with Good360 to distribute toys, games, and books to families in-need amid the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Heading into the holidays, Toys for Tots is starting with a deficit of 2 million toys and games and it anticipates that socioeconomic conditions will negatively impact donations over the next three months as more families seek assistance from Toys for Tots.
The organization is actively requesting assistance to “help refill Santa’s bag of toys.” Donation information can be found at toysfortots.org.
