The maker of iconic toys such as the Frisbee, Hula Hoop, and Slip ‘N Slide just inked a TV deal.

Through a pact with Critical Content, properties from Wham-O will be developed into live-action TV content starting with Slip ‘N Slide Island (working title).  The unscripted competition series will posit contestants against one another as they attempt to “body-glide” through a series of obstacles, including tunnels, jumps, and supersized chutes in an effort to win a cash prize and a chance to compete in the finals.

“Wham-O products have always brought out the best in kids and adults alike and this collaboration with Critical Content is indicative of our desire to elevate these nostalgic brands to the next level,” says Wham-O President Todd Richards. “We couldn’t be more pleased to partner with Tom, Jenny, and their teams to bring Slip ‘N Slide to viewers around the globe in a meaningful way and look forward to creating epic content that celebrates our broader portfolio in the months ahead. ”

Slip ‘N Slide was first introduced at Toy Fair New York back in February 1961.  The brand has seen a resurgence in backyards this year as families spent time together at home amid the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
