It’s Star Wars Day, the annual holiday in which fans of the saga celebrate all things from a galaxy far, far away.
This year, Lucasfilm is ushering in a new era of Star Wars storytelling with the Disney+ debut of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, an all-new original animated spin-off from The Clone Wars.
The Bad Batch is the chosen name for Clone Force 99, a squad of Clone Troopers who are “defective, with desirable mutations.” Unlike their fellow Clones, whom they dub “regs,” Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, and Crosshair aren’t the usual type of sheep who simply follow orders and fall in line. The new series follows this crew “as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone Wars.”
The Bad Batch premieres today with a 70-minute episode before settling into its regular slot on Fridays when new episodes will debut for the next 14 weeks.
Hasbro is first out of the gate into the toy aisles with characters from The Bad Batch joining the popular Star Wars: The Black Series lineup of highly articulated 6-inch scale action figures with premium deco for kids and collectors ages 4 and up.
Crosshair, Hunter, and an Elite Squad Trooper are blasting their way onto pegs and collector shelves now with Hunter and Wrecker set to arrive in the months ahead. Additional new Star Wars toy reveals are expected later today in celebration of Star Wars Day.
