After more than 50 years in hiding, the Pet Rock is back.
The Pet Rock, originally manufactured by Gentile Entertainment Group and Rosebud Management LLC, is a simple, low-maintenance collectible toy that has pleased generations of kids since the 1970’s. Since Super Impulse has recently claimed rights over the toy and brought it back to retailers, Pet Rock now comes with customizable googly eyes and colorful fur, as well as a nest made out of shredded paper and an instruction manual. Each Pet Rock also comes in a convenient carry crate.
Pet Rock has also recently made an appearance in Minions: The Rise of Gru.
“Pet Rock was a hit in the ’70s and has become a marketing legend,” says co-founder of Super Impulse Alan Dorfman. “For the past 50+ years, Pet Rock has been laying low, spending its time in riverbeds and landscaping — hiding in plain sight. Super Impulse, through delicate negotiation and persistent coaxing, is bringing this shy, but lovable icon back to delight all of those who need a friend.”
Prices range from $6.99-9.99. Pet Rock is available to purchase at several retailers including Urban Outfitters, FYE, IT’SUGAR, and CVS.
