Feb. 1 is G.I. Joe Day, marking the 1964 debut of the action brand at Toy Fair New York.
This year, Hasbro celebrated 59 years of the iconic brand by presenting early digital renders of some upcoming action figures from its G.I. Joe Classified Series lineup.
Retailers can look for the following characters to join the ranks later this year. Each product from this wave of reveals is inspired by the 1982 G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero collection of 3.75-inch scale action figures and vehicles but upgraded to the modern, premium, 6-inch scale.
- Snow Job comes tricked out in his arctic combat uniform and stocked up with character-inspired accessories to beat Cobra into submission as he skis down the slopes to victory.
- ScrapIron brings perfection, metal, and destruction to a whole new level with his laser-guided, rocket-loaded, piezo-electric Anti-Armor Drone, complete with blast effects and other character-inspired accessories.
- The Steel Corps are coming in hot with their jetpacks, alternate heads, and an array of weapon and blast effect accessories that are sure to turn up the heat in their battle against Cobra. This two-pack is inspired by the 1987 Steel Brigade mail-in figure.
- The Cobra Tele-Viper and Trubble Bubble Vehicle is a fan-requested update of a classic character and vehicle from the ’80s.
At a media event in New York City yesterday, Hasbro unveiled a host of new products from multiple brands, including Transformers, Star Wars, and more. Traditionally, Hasbro has held February previews timed with Toy Fair. With this year’s shift of Toy Fair to a fall event, the company opted for a scaled-down, one-day presentation.
