Apple TV+ is expanding its animated offerings with a series inspired by the collectible BE@RBRICK figures from Medicom Toy.
The CG series will be animated by DreamWorks Animation and Dentsu Inc. and feature 13 episodes. It centers around the character Jasmine, a singer-songwriter who aims to follow her dreams along with her bandmates. Meghan McCarthy will serve as showrunner and executive producer, Alex Almaguer will serve as supervising producer, Taylor Orci will be the story editor, and Athena Hofmann will be working as the line producer.
The BE@BRICK collectible figures were first released in 2001, and have exploded in popularity since, seeing a variety of releases with different sizes, materials, and collaborations. Notable collaborators with the BE@BRICK brand include graffiti artist Stash, fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, and artist H.R. Giger. The brand has also worked with companies such as Nike and Coca-Cola.
The BE@BRICK figures will be joining a long list of toy brands that have adapted their toys to the animated screen. The new series likely hopes to see the success of other offerings such as Monster High, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, and Bakugan: Evolutions.
The new BE@BRICK series will premiere on Apple TV+ and will add ot the existing catalog of other children’s entertainment offerings on the platform, such as The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse and Princess & Pony.
