The BrandTrends tracker provides insights into brand awareness, popularity, and merchandise appeal among different age groups, from infants to older adults.
“We are proud to present this latest edition of our reports, which deepens understanding of current trends and preferences in the entertainment industry, just in time for the next Licensing Expo,” says Philippe Guinaudeau, CEO of BrandTrends Group.
Key trends revealed in the current BrandTrends reports include:
• Anime and mangas surge: The growth of the anime and mangas genre continues to soar, particularly driven by the popularity of franchises like Pokemon and Naruto.
• Video games rise: The video game sector shows promising progression, with Roblox and Nintendo properties compensating for the decline of larger games.
• Streaming and TV channels remain robust: Despite a previous decline, streaming sources and TV channels have halted their decrease, emphasizing their enduring appeal as entertainment destinations.
• Traditional entertainment categories slow down: Movies, cartoons and shows, as well as toys, continue to experience a slight downward trend over time, compared to more mobile-based categories. Some big players are performing better than others.
The group’s research spans 40 countries and gathers opinions from 67,000 respondents. The reports feature more than 2 million open-ended mentions, track 18 key performance indicators (KPI) on 1,232 different brands, and 18 product categories. Additionally, the reports identify more than 11,000 different brands and names as favorites among respondents.
