Make sure to check their IDs: These sassy chicks are turning 21.
After being launched in 2001, MGA Entertainment’s millennial property Bratz is celebrating its 21st birthday with all the passion for fashion the brand has maintained throughout the years. While the property has been rebranded and relaunched a few times during the line’s life span, today the gals are as popular as ever. A dedicated community of fans who grew up loving the dolls now hold the purchasing power and are introducing their kids to the “it” girls.
New product launches hit online retailers this month, including reproductions of fan-favorites from the line’s early years. Series 2 Fashion Dolls are near-exact reproductions of five dolls originally released between 2002-2005, including Meygan, Nevra, Kiana, Kumi, and Dylan. The Girls Nite Out 21st Birthday Edition Fashion Dolls specifically celebrate the milestone birthday with reproductions of the original 2004 Girls Nite Out dolls, including Cloe, Yasmin, Jade, Sasha, and Dana.
To complement the classic dolls, Bratz partnered with Cult Gaia, a fashion brand founded by MGA Entertainment Founder and CEO Isaac Larian’s daughter Jasmin. At 12 years old, she contributed to the early concepts of the Bratz dolls and she remains close to the brand now as creative director for the line. The companies have teamed up to introduce Bratz x Cult Gaia designer dolls Cloe and Yasmin, who don staple pieces from Cult Gaia collections.
“The Bratz x Cult Gaia dolls are a landmark celebration of where both brands came from, our intrinsic and often unspoken connection, our loyal communities, and all the exciting things that are yet to come,” says Jasmin Larian. “The Bratz dolls are so special to me and finding the sweet spot somewhere between the natural aesthetic of Cult Gaia and the glitzy glam of Bratz feels like a full circle moment.”
Lastly, bringing some of the signature fashion into the real world, Glamnetic — a beauty brand specializing in the magnetic lash, liner, and press-on nails categories — has partnered with Bratz to release false eyelashes and press-on nails inspired by each of the core four Bratz characters. Glamnetic CEO and Founder Ann McFerran grew up playing with Bratz, which directly influenced her love of glam, fashion, and, thus, her future business.
