DHX Media will debut a brand-new children’s subscription-based video-on-demand (SVOD) service this summer.
Launching on Comcast’s Xfinity X1 platform, Kids Room is an ad-free service featuring a collection of shows curated exclusively from DHX Media’s library of kids and family content. At launch, preschool series including Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, In the Night Garden, Teletubbies, Polly Pocket, and Strawberry Shortcake will be available, along with popular shows for older kids, such as Slugterra, Kid vs. Kat, Chuck’s Choice, Endangered Species, Storm Hawks, Sabrina: The Animated Series, and Angela Anaconda.
“Kids Room is a new offering for DHX Media, and we are delighted Comcast’s Xfinity customers will be among the first to enjoy it,” says Joe Tedesco, executive vice president and general manager at DHX Television. “As one of the world’s leading producers and owners of children’s content, we see Kids Room as a natural touchpoint to entertain kids with great programming in the expanding landscape of streaming opportunities. We’ve selected some really fun shows for the service from our deep content library, and we’re confident children are going to love Kids Room.”
The monthly subscription fee will be $4.99, and the service will be offered to X1 customers and those who use Xfinity Flex — Comcast’s internet-only program. DHX promises more shows in the months following launch.
