Disney Parks Brings Zootopia Expansion to Shanghai Disneyland

Fans can soon walk through the famed city from Walt Disney Animation StudiosZootopia.

Disney Parks unveiled plans to build a Zootopia-themed expansion at Shanghai Disneyland, the second major expansion of the park, and comes less than a year after the opening of Disney•Pixar Toy Story Land.

When it opens, Zootopia will become the eighth themed land at the world’s newest Disney park, and the first-ever Zootopia-themed land at any Disney park worldwide. Guests will fully immerse themselves in the mammalian metropolis of Zootopia, “where anyone can be anything,” and come along on an adventure with Judy and Nick, the lead characters from the Oscar-winning film.

Zootopia was a global hit, but its success in China was notable for breaking box office records to become the country’s No. 1 all-time highest-grossing animated feature. The strong response from the Chinese audience has led to Zootopia-themed consumer products available throughout the Chinese market.

The new land will feature a new major attraction that seamlessly blends Disney’s storytelling and state-of-the-art technologies in order to bring the movie and its characters to life. An opening date has not yet been set.
