It’s been a big month for Nacelle and we’re only a week into December.
Following a successful collaboration on Behind the Attraction for Disney+, Nacelle and Seven Bucks Productions — the company co-founded by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Dany Garcia and led by Hiram Garcia — have forged a partnership for RoboForce.
The former toy line from Ideal/CBS Toys has been on the comeback trail ever since Nacelle acquired the rights to the property and introduced its first wave of action figures to specialty retailers last year. RoboForce is a cornerstone of the NacelleVerse, an interconnected universe of classic properties spanning toys, publishing, and entertainment. The first wave of RoboForce action figures, Wrecker and Maxx 89, sold out and more are on the way alongside a second wave currently in production.
Nacelle founder Brian Volk-Weiss is directing RoboForce and will serve as an Executive Producer alongside Cisco Henson, Matt Kravitsky, Michael Goodman, Tom Stern, and Gavin Hignight for Nacelle. Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Brian Gewirtz will serve as Executive Producers on behalf of Seven Bucks Productions.

— RoboForce, official synopsis
In 2089, the latest version of Soraya Aviram’s RoboForce debuted with plans to assist a new intergalactic society on Earth. Unfortunately, the same day as the announcement, Soraya’s rival, Silas Duke, revealed his new Utopia Aegis 101 line of bots, which made RoboForce immediately obsolete. RoboForce split up and was forced into menial jobs for 15 years without hope of ever being heroes… Until mysteriously, a rogue code infected the Utopia Aegis 101’s to turn on humanity, and no one else besides Maxx 89 and the rest of RoboForce has a chance to stop them.
It’s one thing to dream about taking a toy from the 1980s and bringing it to life in the 21st century, but to do it with The Rock and Dany Garcia, I have to pinch myself to be reminded that it’s not a dream. As Maxx 89 would say, let’s proceed!”
According to Garcia, Seven Bucks is looking to continue connecting with new audiences and expanding its reach through animation following its recent work on DC League of Super-Pets.
“We love that [RoboForce is] a story about redemption, second chances, and rising to the challenge as told through the eyes of funny, messed up, renegade robots who finally get their chance to shine,” added Dany Garcia and Dwayne Johnson. “This is a great opportunity for Seven Bucks to build on its animation momentum, and we can’t wait for audiences to see what we’ve got in store for them.”
From Toys to Animation to Comics
On March 20, Oni Press will launch NacelleVerse No. 0, the introduction to a story that Volk-Weiss says will unfold over the next five years. The double-sized issue will be followed by RoboForce No. 1 (of 3) in April; Biker Mice from Mars No. 1 (of 3) in July; and three-issue Sectaurs and Power Lords miniseries at a later date.
When his planet is annihilated by a cosmic disaster, the alien Great Garloo must begin a galaxy-spanning search for a new home … only to discover a bold new universe of champions waiting amongst the stars! From the genetically modified Sectaur warriors of the planet Symbion to the rabble-rousing Biker Mice from Mars, Garloo’s quest for a safe haven will hurdle him on a one-way collision course toward 22nd Century Earth … where the obsolete robotic work crew called RoboForce is about to forge a new destiny …
