Fanhome is embarking on a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.
Following a UK launch last year, Fanhome is releasing its Knight Rider subscription series build-up offering in the U.S. Fans can celebrate the 40th anniversary of Knight Rider with a 110-stage build. Subscribers will receive four stages each month for a build that will take place over the course of roughly two years and a total cost of approximately $1,500.
Each stage comes with parts and detailed instructions that can be used to build a 1:8-scale replica of K.I.T.T., the iconic Pontiac Trans Am that was accompanied by Michael Knight (David Hasselhoff) during the original series run from 1982-1986.
The detailed model includes opening and closing doors and windows, illuminated headlights and brake lights, and the iconic red scanner bar across the front. Additionally, the rear license plate rotates to display three different plates, including 010-FR, KNI 667, and KNIGHT.
When completed, the model’s electronic functions can be operated by a radio control watch that will activate the headlights and scanner, engine sounds, K.I.T.T.’s voice, and clips from the original series soundtrack.
Fanhome says that each delivery will include a magazine packed with 16 pages of information and articles about Knight Rider. while select shipments will include bonus collectibles and gifts with purchase, including a USB charger, art prints, and 1:43-scale replicas of K.I.T.T. and his evil twin, K.A.R.R.
The Fanhome Knight Rider build-up project joins a host of other Knight Rider-inspired offerings that are hitting the market this year as part of the 40th anniversary celebration, including products from Mattel’s Hot Wheels brand, Playmobil, Jada Toys, and Fanattik.
