Genius Brands International is building a global consumer products program for Bee and PuppyCat, the Netflix animated series produced by its Frederator Networks.
Ahead of next month’s Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, Genius Brands finalized deals with several partners, including Trends International (posters, stickers for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico); Toynk (plush for the U.S. and Canada); Youtooz (collectibles, figures, and plush for the U.S, Canada, Mexico, and the UK); and Toy Factory (plush for the U.S. and Canada.
Additionally, Hot Topic has jumped on board for Bee and PuppyCat-inspired apparel that is already available online at both Hot Topic and BoxLunch and will be available in select stores later this year.
“Bee and PuppyCat is clearly resonating with fans with its whimsical, cool vibe that translates extremely well into licensed merchandise,” says Winnie Jaing, Vice President of Licensing Strategy & Partnerships at Hot Topic. “We look forward to seeing the line grow beyond apparel.”
In the meantime, Crowdmade has opened a dedicated Bee and PuppyCat online store, featuring apparel and accessories, mugs, posters, plush, gifts, collectibles, and home products.
Genius Brands says that it’s looking to find new partners for the brand at Licensing Expo as it expands across stationery, publishing, home, hardlines, footwear, gaming, electronics, and more.
Nearly two years ago, Genius Brands acquired WOW! Unlimited Media and its subsidiaries, including Frederator Studios (Adventure Time, FairlyOdd Parents, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter’s Laboratory, Castlevania) and Mainframe Studios (Madagascar – a Little Wild, Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse).
