Hasbro Inc., the Pawtucket School Department, and the City of Pawtucket, R.I., have entered into a partnership with No Bully, a non-profit organization that trains schools how to leverage student empathy to stop bullying. Pawtucket is the first district in New England to adopt the No Bully program department wide and declare itself a bully-free city.
The No Bully System, a proactive step-by-step process and set of interventions to prevent and stop bullying in schools, will be implemented throughout the 2015 to 2016 school year in all 17 schools across the Pawtucket School Department. No Bully will train teachers across the Pawtucket school department how to recognize and interrupt student bullying, a core team of teachers at each school site will learn to become solution coaches and bring together students to become proficient in dealing with incidents of bullying and harassment, and parents will be invited to attend workshops across the city where they can learn how to prevent their child from being a bully or a target.
