With more than 100 years since the golden age of rail travel, Hornby, a UK toy and collectible company, is releasing a line of model trains designed after the Flying Scotsman, which first left the station on Feb. 24, 1923.
The line features a Flying Scotsman train set complete with rails, three coaches, a remote control, and more, but it also features six limited-edition models from different eras of the Flying Scotsman. The collection features models from 1923, 1924, 1946, 1963, 1969, and 2016. Each model comes in a bespoke box and features a medallion featuring the Flying Scotsman centenary logo, operator, running number, year of operation, and a numbered commemorative certificate. The six replicas are currently available for preorder and the Flying Scotsman Train Set is available now.
The collection also features a Flying Scotsman 100th Anniversary 4-Wheel Coach, a brown coach with a white roof that features the Flying Scotsman centenary logo and the years the train has been operating.
Hornby is also the lead sponsor of the Flying Scotsman’s centenary program, which the National Railway Museum is organizing.
