In an effort to continue Mattel’s representation within the Hot Wheels line and encourage more inclusive stories through play, Hot Wheels launches the first ever remote controlled wheelchair toy in partnership with paralympic athlete Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham.
The Hot Wheels R/C Aaron “Wheelz” Wheelie Chair features a built-in action figure modeled after Fotheringham and includes a remote control and a ramp so kids can perform epic tricks. Additionally, the R/C toy includes a stunt bar that provides an extra kick to the remote controlled wheelchair which features top speeds reaching more than 6 mph.

In celebration of this launch, Fotheringham hosted a live event outside of the Hot Wheels Garage at Mattel headquarters in El Segundo, California and paid a visit to the Mattel Children’s Hospital to meet with some of the patients there to give them a first look of the new toy.
Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham is a five-time wheelchair motocross world champion and paralympic athlete known for performing stunts from his wheelchair. Fotheringham overcame his challenges to win the WCMX World Championship five times and has executed the first wheelchair flair/backflip 180.

The Hot Wheels R/C Aaron Wheelz Wheelie Chair is available on Amazon for preorder and will be officially released on November 1.
In 2019, Mattel introduced a 1:64-scale die-cast version of Fotheringham’s Wheelie Chair as part of the Hot Wheels mainline collection. The vehicle continues to be offered in a variety of colorways as part of the basic Hot Wheels assortment.
