JoPat Games, a Chicago-based game manufacturer, has announced its latest board game: Cross Spin! The new game, available in physical and digital app versions, adds a unique challenge to the traditional crossword puzzle.
Players start with a spiral-bound, dry-erase crossword booklet and marker. A puzzle board is selected by all players, and category cards are picked and shown based on the number of word slots on the puzzle board. Then the race begins, and players must finish their crossword puzzle before the others. What makes the game unique is that players can rotate their puzzle and write the words in any orientation on the board, as long as all answers are facing the same way once the puzzle is completed.

When one player finishes their puzzle, they can then flip the hourglass to put pressure on the others to finish their puzzles in 20 seconds or less. Once the timer runs out, points are awarded for the round based on how much each player completed. Everyone then picks another puzzle board and new category cards to start the next round. The first player to reach 25 points wins the game.
