The LEGO Group celebrated MAR10 Day on March 10 with a YouTube premiere and three new Super Mario-themed sets. The YouTube video featured activities with host Jack Gardner, discussed the new sets, and included a teaser look at the upcoming LEGO Super Mario: Mario Kart, due to release next year. The teaser showcased a silhouette of a LEGO Super Mario Kart.
The three LEGO sets that will join the LEGO Super Mario universe are The Bowser Express Train, King Boo’s Haunted Mansion, and Battle with Roy at Peach’s Castle. Each set will be available this summer.
The Bowser Express Train is made of 1,392 LEGO elements and includes interactive features such as a lever-operated spinning platform, a Super Star Block, a passenger wagon with a removable roof and “?” Block, and a cannon wagon with a spring-loaded cannon. Designed for kids ages 9 and up, the set will be $119.99.
“A lot of work went into designing The Bowser Express Train and ensuring it truly captures Bowser’s mighty presence and power,” says Daire McCabe, Design Master on LEGO Super Mario. “We wanted to create this epic set, inspired by the iconic train level in Super Mario 3D World, where Mario shoots out of a cannon to take on all the enemies on the train — capturing the spirit, energy, and adrenaline of the original game.”
The next set unveiled for MAR10 Day is King Boo’s Haunted Mansion ($74.99). Builders can explore the haunted halls and interact with a Chest Block, Coin Block, and hidden Key Block with the 932-piece LEGO brick build. There are also popular enemy characters included. The set is designed for kids ages 8 and up.
The LEGO Group also introduced the Battle with Roy at Peach’s Castle set. This reimagined build, designed for kids ages 7 and up, consists of 738 pieces and features a catapult, buildable walls, a rotating throne, a piano, and a garden fountain. Battle with Roy at Peach’s Castle will be $64.99.
The Bowser Express Train, King Boo’s Haunted Mansion, and Battle with Roy at Peach’s Castle will be available at LEGO stores, lego.com, and select retailers in August. For more information on The Lego Group’s MAR10 initiatives, visit lego.com.
