Following the successful return of Licensing Expo in May, the Global Licensing Group has released new data on the strength of the licensing industry as published by its License Global magazine.

The “Top Global Licensors Report 2022” reflects an industry rebound from pandemic-era challenges with combined revenue of more than $260 billion reported by 88 licensors that took part in a recent survey. Of the 88 licensors, 40 of those are bringing in more than $1 billion annually.

The Top 10 Global Licensors of 2022

  1. The Walt Disney Co. – $56.2 billion (estimated)
  2. Dotdash Meredith – $35.9 billion
  3. Authentic Brands Group – $21.7 billion
  4. WarnerMedia/Warner Bros. Consumer Products – $15 billion
  5. The Pokémon Co. International – $8.5 billion
  6. Hasbro – $8.4 billion
  7. NBCUniversal/Universal Brand Development – $8.3 billion
  8. Mattel – $7.4 billion (estimated)
  9. Bluestar Alliance – $6.5 billion
  10. Paramount Global/Paramount Consumer Products and Experiences – $6 billion

Notably, The Pokémon Co. International reported growth of $3,4 billion versus the last report while the overall licensed consumer products business at retail spiked $39.6 billion versus the 2020/21 fiscal year. By category, toys and game manufacturers represent just 5.8% of the overall global licensing business, per this year’s report.
