By the power of Grayskull, He-Man is back in action with a brand new retro-inspired brawler.
Mattel and Limited Run Games revealed He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction at gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany. The action-packed 2D game, developed with game development studio Bitmap Bureau, debuts in 2026, with both physical preorders and digital editions arriving early next year.
The game features pixel-art animation, classic arcade controls, and visuals inspired by the original cartoon. Players fight through more than 12 levels using character-specific moves, abilities, and power-ups to battle Skeletor and Evil-Lyn and save Eternia. Playable heroes include He-Man (with Battle Cat at his side), Teela, Man-At-Arms, and more. Players can defend Castle Grayskull on all platforms, including gaming consoles and PC.
“Dragon Pearl of Destruction is one of the exciting ways we’re bringing Mattel’s brands to life through digital games,” says Erika Winterholler, Head of Business Development, Digital Games at Mattel. “It’s a love letter to those who grew up with He-Man, combining nostalgic visuals with fast-paced, modern gameplay. Our goal is to honor the franchise’s legacy while introducing it to a new generation of players. The team at Limited Run Games shares that passion, and we hope the game connects with both lifelong fans and newcomers alike.”
“Dragon Pearl of Destruction is the Masters of the Universe arcade game I yearned for as a child,” Josh Fairhurst, CEO and Executive Producer at Limited Run Games, adds.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction will be available on all platforms next year. For more information and updates, follow Limited Run Games on X, Bluesky, Facebook, and Instagram.
