The Monster High franchise is making a big leap from the toy department to the world of live-action entertainment, just in time for Halloween.
Today, Mattel Television, Nickelodeon, and Paramount have unleashed the first full trailer for Monster High: The Movie. The much-anticipated musical is inspired by the Monster High doll brand that originally hit retail in 2010 and comes as part of a full-scale relaunch for the brand.
Monster High: The Movie follows Clawdeen Wolf (Miia Harris, Just Beyond), who was born half human and half werewolf, after she arrives at her new school, Monster High. She quickly makes friends with her classmates Frankie Stein (Ceci Balagot, Dispatches from Elsewhere) and Draculaura (Nayah Damasen, Grey’s Anatomy), and for the first time in her life, Clawdeen feels like she has finally found a place where she fits in and can truly be herself, despite keeping her human half a secret. When a devious plan to destroy Monster High threatens to reveal her real identity, Clawdeen must learn to embrace her true monster heart and find a way to save the day alongside her new friends.
Additional characters from the Monster High lore, including Dracula, Headmistress Bloodgood, Deuce Gorgon, Mr. Komos, Cleo de Nile, Lagoona, Ghoulia, and Abbey Bominable are confirmed to appear alongside others left to surprise audiences.
Monster High: The Movie premieres Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon and will immediately be available for streaming on Paramount+.
A Monster High animated series is also set to debut later this year on Nickelodeon and new extensions into toys, fashion, and licensed categories are underway.
