The toy-adjacent world of pop culture collectibles continues to expand with new offerings from Paragon FX Group.
Over the past few months, the company, which has previously been featured at our sister publication, The Pop Insider, has launched a robust line of prop replicas inspired by Jurassic Park, Batman (1989), Supernatural, and more. Now, the company is rolling out a pair of new “grail” items that collectors can purchase through an array of specialty retailers.
For decades, millions of kids have wondered how they can have the same Bat-gadgets that Adam West and Burt Ward used to rock the streets of Gotham City as Batman and Robin. The Bat-radio is one such item that was originally seen in the 1966 Batman TV series. Under license from Warner Bros. and DC, Paragon FX Group has replicated the radio along with the Bat-cuffs (a Bat-Shield is also in development) by studying the history and design of the original props.
The original props were hand-cut and adorned with collapsible brass antennas. A simple light, denoting transmission, was the only other feature present in the original models. For its replica, Paragon FX Group used cast resin, acrylic, and brass, and infused it with lights and sounds.
While this Bat-Radio replica won’t be able to broadcast a signal from here to Egghead’s Lair, it’s an essential piece of any Bat-gadget collection.
For fans of The Wizard of Oz, Paragon FX Group is offering a faithful recreation of Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers. Designers used the latest reference from the Smithsonian to create what is believed to be the most accurate replica of the screen-used slippers, from the sequins and jewels to the orange felt on the soles.
Mythbusters‘ Adam Savage recently unboxed a pair of Paragon FX Group’s Ruby Slippers on his YouTube series, Tested.
More prop replicas are planned for the months ahead.
