Sesame Street

Kanopy inked a two-year deal with Sesame Workshop to bring Sesame Street to its library-based free-to-user streaming platform.

Twenty-four episodes of Sesame Street will be included on Kanopy Kids, where they will be seen alongside a host of other educational videos for kids of all ages. Kanopy Kids is accessible through partnered public and academic libraries across the U.S. The service hosts a curated catalog of films and TV shows complete with age-based ratings provided by Common Sense Media.

“For the last 50 years, Sesame Street has influenced generations around the world by leading educational growth and social change,” says Kanopy CEO Kevin Sayar. “We are elated to work with Sesame Workshop and reach new audiences with the timeless series while reinforcing Kanopy Kids’ mission to encourage social and emotional development, promote respect for community diversity, and inspire creativity.”

The collection of episodes have been selected from seasons 39 and 40 of the long-running series, which continues its 50th anniversary celebration this fall.
